Being creative is something that often falls to the bottom of our ‘to do’ lists and that much needed ‘me time’ has to wait. As a mum of two girls I know how precious time is, but also how important it is for our own sanity. When my girls were younger I spent a lot of time taking them to various craft activities and I always thought ‘why do they get to have all the fun?!’ and so the idea of enjoyable, creative workshops for adults seemed a great one. My workshops are for all abilities and no experience is needed, most take place from the comfort of my kitchen table.

WORKSHOPS
I am so pleased to be running some new daytime workshops at Creative Quilting in Molesey, Surrey.
Clockwise from the top, the daisies piece is taught using machine embroidery techniques to create an abstract background using a variety of green fabrics. I will teach you how to use free machine embroidery to create the hare picture and your choice of foliage and stitched extras. The rose is a beautiful shadow quilting technique using hand stitching and is a very mindful process.
They are all 4 hour sessions with tea and coffee included.
Each class is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to embroidery techniques, giving you the opportunity to learn the basics and develop more advanced skills. Join me for a creative and enjoyable experience that will leave you with a unique piece of stitched art!
TEXTURED SURFACES
WORKSHOP OR GROUP BOOKING
This is a fun and relaxed experimental workshop exploring how to create landscapes and semi abstract landscapes by focusing on the texture before applying any colour.
I will show you how to represent foliage and landscapes by using different textures and using a wide variety of materials. You will learn how to colour and highlight the textures to create perspective. I will demonstrate how to combine with small sections of collage/fabric to produce a unique piece of artwork to be finished off with a variety of hand embroidery stitches.
Tea, herbal teas, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
£45 per person.
Date - Arranged to suit individuals.
Duration -4 hours. This works best separated into 2 different sessions on 2 different days, but can be done in one go if necessary.

Create your own embroidered seascape in a relaxed, informal workshop. Learn how to master embroidery stitches, such as running stitch, back stitch, french knots and loops on a pre-prepared fabric background that I have painted with fabric paints.
Decorate with lace, netting, stitching, beads and a variety of textures for the sea foam and waves. All equipment provided. No experience necessary.
Tea, herbal teas, coffee and biscuits will be provided!
£25 per person, or £35 for one to one session.
Max 8 people, minimum 3 people.

SEASCAPE EMBROIDERY WORKSHOP
SUNSET EMBROIDERY WORKSHOP
Create your own hanging sunset/landscape hoop in a relaxed, informal workshop. Learn how to master embroidery stitches, such as running stitch, back stitch, french knots and lazy daisy stitch on a pre-prepared fabric background that I have painted with fabric paints.
Decorate with lace, applique, stitching and beads.
All equipment provided. No experience necessary.
Tea, herbal teas, coffee and biscuits will be provided!
£25 per person, or £35 for one to one session.
Max 8 people, minimum 3 people.

EMBROIDERY CLASS
11 weeks (2 hours per week)
Enjoy a relaxed class, suitable for beginners where you will master a variety of hand embroidery stitches including chain stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, french knots and spider web roses, you will combine them into a stitched piece.
You will learn additional techniques such as applique to help enhance your stitching. You will also have the chance to learn about different fabrics and how to transfer a design onto fabric.
Develop these skills further by creating an embroidery design of your choice or follow my set template as pictured here.
An equipment list will be emailed to you before the start date.

DESIGN CONFIDENCE
FOR ALL FORMS OF TEXTILE ART
One to one sessions to gain a better insight into how to design a great textile art piece, so that you can feel inspired and able to apply the principles to all your future work.
We will explore your initial inspiration, finding your style, composition and design development using the 5 main design principles. I will show you how to translate your developed design to fabric and enhance with various techniques to make the most of your design.
At the end of the 5 sessions you will have created your final design ready to take home and create using fabric and stitch. In your own time you will then be able to follow my advice on the next steps to translate your design into a textile art piece.
This class is for those wanting to develop their design process rather than learning specific sewing/textiles techniques. However, if you would like additional guidance I can add extra sessions to help you achieve your beautiful artwork.

Cost: 5 sessions at £35.00 per 2 hour session.
FREE MACHINE EMBROIDERY
AND HOW TO USE WATER SOLUBLE FABRIC
One to one lesson.
Learn to draw with your sewing machine.
Learn the basics and create a lovely landscape in a hoop with a variety of different fabrics, using applique techniques and free machine embroidery to draw the grasses in the foreground.
You will need to bring your own sewing machine with the ability to drop the feed dog and have an embroidery foot. I will provide the rest.
I will also introduce you to water soluble fabric, you can create a small design using just stitch and wash all the fabric away! No experience necessary.
Tea, herbal tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
Cost -£25 per person. Max 8 people, minimum 3 people.
Or £35 for one to one session
Duration - 2 hours.

EMBROIDERED LANDSCAPE HOOP
Create a beautiful background using fabric paints, then add some detail using fabrics, lace and paper to add texture and finish off with embroidery stitches and knots to create a landscape picture in a hoop, ready to hang up. No experience necessary.
Tea, herbal teas, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
Bring your own packed lunch.
Duration - 4 Hours. 10am - 2pm

Cost - £45 per person, min 2 people.
ONE TO ONE SESSIONS
I am happy to create a more bespoke workshop for a one to one session or if a group of friends want to try something new, for example printing/painting onto fabric/embroidery etc. Please do get in touch and I can work out the cost and the duration of the workshop for you.

MINDFUL STITCHING HOOP
Enjoy a relaxing, mindful 2 hour workshop to create a piece of stitched art in a hoop. We will concentrate on the meditative effects of being present with your stitching and to not worry about the outcome but to enjoy the calming process.
All materials provided. No experience necessary.
